With this Easter newsletter, we would like to tell you the happy-making story of Gabija’s dental treatment. We also report on the planned admission of three orphans from Ukraine to Sonata’s house in Marijampole. And we invite you to visit our newly redesigned website www.jugendfoerderung-in-litauen.org.
Thanks to our new “Fund for Emergency Medical Assistance” we can finance special treatments like Gabija’s dental surgery. At the beginning of 2021 we received a request if we could provide financial and organizational help to a young woman named Gabija, who lives in Sonata’s foster family in Marijampole, for an urgently needed, costly dental treatment to build up new teeth. Our association and the PATRIA organization then pledged their support. At the beginning of April 2022, the good news came from Lithuania: Gabija survived the first serious dental surgery in the Balčiūnai clinic and is looking positively into the future. All dental treatments are to be completed by the end of 2022.
On April 7, 2022 we had a meeting via ZOOM with Gabija and foster mom Sonata – we were very happy to see Gabija’s smile! Thanks to Jurate’s translation assistance, we were able to exchange ideas and learn that Gabiya’s self-confidence has grown through the dental surgeries and the support of Rita and Jurate. Gabija now looks forward to the next steps of the treatment. She enjoys her training as a hairdresser and feels very comfortable in Sonata’s foster family. Gabija and Sonata thank our association and all donors very much for their generous donations to the “Fund for Emergency Medical Aid” on the occasion of a birthday party in the summer of 2021!
Soon Sonata’s foster family will take in three orphans from Ukraine. The small country of Lithuania has already taken in 25,000 to 30,000 refugees from Ukraine. Sonata has also agreed to do this and will soon provide a home for three orphans. Our board team has promised to provide monthly financial support to these children as well. As soon as we have news from Lithuania, we will contact you.
